VIVITA BOOKS

About

Vivita Books is a program where kids are given the opportunity to write, illustrate and publish their dream books! To bring their dream books to life, these young authors went through an incubation program with workshops to guide them through the entire book writing and publishing process. Our young authors were able to publish their first books with their hard work and support from their guardians and mentors.

Process

Our young authors go through a series of workshops over a two-month period to guide them in the making of their dream book. In addition to that, each author also had a mentor paired with them on a one-is-to-one basis to work with them throughout the entire process.

The workshops conducted are facilitated by local authors, illustrators, and publishers. The first run of Vivita Books had all workshops and mentoring done online, and the second run had all workshops and mentoring done in-person.

Mentorship

Each of our young authors had a mentor paired with them one-on-one to guide them throughout the entire process of writing their dream books. The mentors helped the authors brainstorm, write, illustrate, and layout their books, all while staying true to the author’s plan.

Publishing

Our authors’ dream books were published to their standards. The authors had to approve of the layouts and choose the paper they wanted to print their books with before each book was printed to the author’s standards. Each book is also copyrighted to its author and has its own ISBN.

Book Launching and Distribution

Our young authors launched their books and copies are available for reading at Vivistop Baguio! Libraries around the Philippines also have copies of their books for reading, including the Baguio City Public Library, the Benguet Provincial Library, the Bontoc Library, the Calapan Library, and the Urdaneta City Library.

Vivita does not sell books published under the program to encourage kids to have a “no limits” mindset, so the kids can write about what they want without worrying about whether or not others will want to buy their books.
